SASSARI, Italy (June 13) -- Grappling returned to United World Wrestling last week at the European Grappling Championship in Sassari, Italy. The competition, which featured athletes from around the European continent was the first since United World Wrestling reintroduced the sport late last year.

Rizvan BOCHKAEV, president of the United World Wrestling Grappling committee and Saverio LONGO president of Italian Grappling Mixed Martial Arts Federation, spoke during the opening ceremony about the future of Grappling inside the United World Wrestling family.

Russia won the team title in both no-gi and gi grappling outpacing Ukraine and Italy who took second and third, respectively.
