SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates (September 9) -- United World Wrestling’s coach education programme continued in the United Arab Emirates as Sharjah hosted a UWW Level 1 Coaching Course from September 4-6, bringing together 43 participants from 14 countries.
The course included nine women and 34 men, with participants representing a broad range of backgrounds, including wrestling coaches, physical education teachers, coaches from other combat sports and referees.
The course was delivered by UWW Educator Georgi SREDKOV, who praised the participants for their engagement and the positive learning environment created throughout the three-day programme. The diversity of the group provided an opportunity for participants to share different experiences and perspectives while developing fundamental coaching knowledge and skills.
"The participants were very concentrated and showed interest to learn," Sredkov said. "It was an excellent example of how people from 14 different countries can work together in a spirit of teamwork, cooperation, and a positive atmosphere.
"The conditions and overall organization were more than satisfactory. I would like to express my appreciation to Shaban EL SAYED for his dedication, efforts, and excellent organization."
The course represents another step in the development of wrestling in the UAE, providing coaches and other members of the wrestling community with education that can be applied directly in their work with athletes.
The successful Sharjah course demonstrates the continued growth of UWW coach education and the importance of creating international learning opportunities that bring together coaches and sporting professionals from different countries and backgrounds.
"I strongly believe that, by adopting this approach, the UAE Wrestling Federation can significantly increase the number of people participating in wrestling, while also contributing to the improvement of their sporting performance and overall level," Sredkov said.
