Turkey to Host 2017 Beach Wrestling World Championships

CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY (June 27) – United World Wrestling, the international governing body for the sport of wrestling, has announced the Turkish Wrestling Federation will host the 2017 Beach Wrestling World Championships October 13-15 in the beach town of Dalyan.

The championships will feature men’s and women’s beach wrestling with all eligible age categories (Cadet, Junior and Senior) set to compete during the three-day event.

“Beach wrestling is one of our organization’s most exciting and fastest-growing disciplines,” said United World Wrestling president Nenad Lalovic. “The Turkish Wrestling Federation is certain to put on a great competition and we look forward to seeing our athletes compete in the sand.”

The Turkish Wrestling requests that any interested national federations send their entry forms immediately as the Republic of Turkey may require up to two month’s to process the necessary paperwork. Interested federations must also contact their nearest Turkish embassy or consulate and work with the Turkish Wrestling Federation to a letter of Support for the visa process.
