TEHRAN (November 21) -- The Iran Wrestling Federation hosted its annual Children’s Day tournament this weekend in Iran, with schoolboy age group teams from across Europe and Asia showing up to compete.
In addition to the on-the-mat action, Iran minister of Sport & Youth Masoud SOLTANIFAR presented the father of Abolfazl ARAMIDEH with the United World Wrestling Endurance Trophy.
The 15-year-old Abolfazl ARAMIDEH, who won 2016 bronze medal in Asian cadets wrestling championships, became severely ill earlier this year and is now fighting against his disease from a hospital in Iran. United World Wrestling has sent the endurance trophy to him, hoping see him again on mat sooon.
“I have come to the hall for Abolfazl ARAMIDE," aid Soltanifair during the final day of wrestling. "I hope he defeat the disease and see him a day winning Olympic medal."
A total of 13 teams in Greco-Roman and 10 teams in Freestyle competed in Children’s Day tournament. In Greco-Roman, Iran (B) defeated Armenia to win title as Iran (A) won Freestyle title, defeating Azerbaijan in the final match.
