A successful wrestler at the age-group level, Georgi VANGELOV (BUL) proved his worth at the European Qualifiers by finishing in the top two to qualify for the Tokyo Games. He defeated Islam BAZARGANOV (AZE) in the semifinal to win the spot. In the final, he lost to Arsen HARUTYUNYAN (ARM). Apart from being the Bulgarian champion, he won a bronze medal at the 2020 Individual World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia.
