Born in Raciborz, Poland, Denis KUDLA (GER) began wrestling in Germany and won the Cadet World Championships in 2011. He competed at the 2016 Olympic Games and won a bronze medal. He was defeated by eventual champion Davit CHAKVETADZE (RUS). He later came back in repechage and defeated Viktor LORINCZ (HUN) in the bronze medal bout. He will be on the flight to Tokyo after winning a bronze medal at the 2019 Worlds in Nursultan. He reached the semifinal, where he lost to Zhan BELENIUK (UKR), to qualify for Tokyo. In the bronze medal bout, he defeated Mikalai STADUB (BLR). He also won a silver in Paris 2017.
