A world silver medal medalist in 2017, Boris MAKOEV (SVK) switched from Russia to Slovakia in 2017. Born in North Ossetia-Alania, Russia, he qualified for the Tokyo Games after finishing in the top two at the World Qualifiers in Sofia. Makojev failed to achieve the feat at the 2019 Worlds and the European Qualifiers, suffering defeats to Ahmed DUDAROV (GER) and Osman GOCEN (TUR) respectively. This will be his first Olympics.
