BIOGRAPHY
After failing to qualify for the Rio Olympics in 2016, Artur OMAROV (CZE) will be going to his first Olympics in Tokyo after he finished in the top two at the World Qualifiers in Sofia, Bulgaria. He had failed to qualify his country at the 2019 Worlds and the European Qualifiers. He defeated Vilius LAURINAITIS (LTU) in the semifinal in Sofia to qualify. At the Worlds, he lost to Mikheil KAJAIA (SRB) in the quarterfinal. The Serb later lost in the semifinal, eliminating Omarov from the tournament. In Budapest, he suffered a loss to Kiril MILOV (BUL) in the semifinals. At the 2020 Individual World Cup in Belgrade, he returned home with a bronze medal after beating Uzur DZHUZUPBEKOV (KGZ). He had lost to Alex SZOKE (HUN) in the semifinals.
