PLOVDIV, Bulgaria -- No team won more gold medals than Moldova at the U23 European Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Turkey, however, claimed the team title with gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Hungary was second while two gold on the final day pushed Poland into the third position in the team race.

Moldova, which brought only four wrestlers, finished in the fourth position.

Here are the finals from the 10 weight classes.

62kg: GOLD - Zhala ALIYEVA (AZE) vs Anna FABIAN (SRB)

 

65kg: GOLD - Amina CAPEZAN (ROU) vs. Ewelina CIUNEK (POL)

 

68kg: GOLD - Irina RINGACI (MDA) vs Asli DEMIR (TUR)

 

72kg: GOLD - Maria NITU (ROU) vs Wiktoria CHOLUJ (POL)

PLOVDIV, Bulgaria -- Azerbaijan brought a solid freestyle team to Plovdiv with World Championships medalist and some continental champions.

The team did not disappoint and won the team title over Turkey and Georgia at the U23 European Championships. All four wrestlers from Azerbaijan who reached the finals won gold medals.

Germany had their first U23 European champion in Horst LEHR (GER) at 57kg while a few more firsts were recorded in the tournament.
