CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY (March 10) – United World Wrestling, in partnership with World Academy for Sport, has launched “Ready to Wrestle” an online program designed for sports fans interested in learning more about the history, rules, styles and traditions of international wrestling.

The program, which also provides information on the work of United World Wrestling, caters to students, athletes, coaches, referees, event organizers and those interested in testing their knowledge of wrestling and the Olympic Games.

“’Ready to Wrestle’ was created to address the need for a resource to help introduce the sport of wrestling to a new audience,” said United World Wrestling development director, Lúcás Ó’Ceallacháin.

The “Ready to Wrestle” program contains four modules aiming to teach the history, basic principles and rules of wrestling. Those utilizing the program work their way through each of the four modules before receiving verification of completion.

“’Ready to Wrestle’ forms the first step on the new Coach Education pathway of United World Wrestling. This means that no matter where we run a course, we know that those who have already completed ‘Ready to Wrestle’ have a grasp of the basics, so we don’t need to start from zero,” added Ó’Ceallacháin.

The program can be found online at the World Academy of Sport Wrestling Academy homepage, here: http://www.worldacademysport.org/?academy=7
