Alrosa Cup Streaming, World Champ Khinchegashvili to Wrestle

MOSCOW (November 5) – The Alrosa Cup is set to begin Friday November 6th a the Druzhba Sports Hall in Moscow. Teams from around Europe have been invited to compete in the dual team format for each of the three Olympic styles.

“We look forward to hosting the cup again this year,” said United World Wrestling commission member, Georgy Bruysov.”We are looking at a new format in the years to come and will discuss this developments with United World Wrestling. For now we are excited for this year’s action.”

Greco-Roman competition will take place between wrestlers from Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Germany, Belarus and Turkey. Olympic champions Alexey MISHIN and Islambeka ALBIEV will lead the Russian team along with 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Mingiyan SEMENOV. 

European Games winner Valeria LAZINSKAYA and 2015 world silver medalist Irina OLOGONOVA will lead team Russia in women’s wrestling. Meanwhile team from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Poland, Turkey will compete almost in their strongest line-ups in Moscow with 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Julia RATKEVICH (AZE), world bronze medalist Tatiana KIT (UKR).

Other top women’s wrestlers include Elif ESILIRMAK (TUR), Angela DOROGAN (AZE) , Natalia SINISHIN (AZE), Katarzhina KRAYCHIK (POL), Roksana ZASINA (POL), Tatiana LAVRENCHUK (UKR), and Merve KENGER (TUR).

While the Russian team will send out a host of reserve wrestlers in freestyle, some of the world’s best are planning to make the trip to Moscow with visitors Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Belarus and Poland. Georgia is bringing a top lineup with current world champion and 2012 Olympic silver medalist Vladimir KHINCHEGASHVILI (GEO) highlighting the entries along with European Games medalists Beka LOMTADZE (GEO), Dzhamber KVELASHVILI (GEO), Sandro AMINASHVILI (GEO), and Elizbar ODIKADZE (GEO).

Turkey also brings a handful of medaled wrestlers with European Games medalists Sezar AKGUL and Soner DEMIRTASH.
