Abdelmottaleb will compete in his second Olympic Games. He finished in ninth place at the ‘16 Rio Olympics after going 1-2. He defeated Radhouane CHEBBI (TUN) in the opening round, but fell to eventual silver medal Komeil Nemat GHASEMI (IRI) and Korey JARVIS (CAN). The three-time African champion won the Africa and Oceania Olympic Qualifier and punched Egypt’s ticket to Tokyo. He ultimately claimed the 125kg Olympic spot over fellow Egyptian heavyweight Youssif Mohamed Badea HEMIDA after finishing in fifth place at the ‘21 Poland Open.
