About Aline
Since competing at the Rio Olympics, Aline ROTTER FOCKEN (GER) shifted her weight category from 69kg to 76kg. She finished 9th in Rio, losing to Jenny FRANSSON (SWE) in the quarterfinal. A world champion in 2014 and silver medalist in 2017, Focken won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships. She reached the semifinal to qualify for the Olympics but lost to Adeline GRAY of USA. In the bronze medal bout, she defeated Rio bronze medalist Elmira SYZDYKOVA of Kazakhstan. Born in Krefeld, Germany, Focken won the gold medal at the 2020 Individual World Cup held in Belgrade, Serbia. She had wins over Yasemin ADAR (TUR), Aiperi MEDET KYZY (KGZ) And Ekaterina BUKINA (RUS).
