Rong earned Olympic spot with silver medal at 2019 World Championships, losing 9-6 in final to Risako KAWAI (JPN) in clash of reigning world champions (Kawai moved down from 59kg).... Went into 2019 World Championships with No. 1 world ranking after consecutive victories at the Klippan Lady Open, Dan Kolov-Nikola Petrov Tournament and Asian Championships...Established self in 2018 by winning five of seven tournaments entered and being named UWW Breakout Performer of Year for women. Capped year with gold at Budapest World Championships with 3-3 victory over Bilyana DUDOVA (BUL). Also won Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix, Asian Championships, China Open and Poland Open, and went 3-0 at World Cup. Beat Grace BULLEN (NOR) in 12-2 semifinals in Budapest, then lost to her a month later in 59kg final at World U-23...Has not competed since World Cup in November 2019.
