After a fifth-place finisher in the Rio Olympics, Eduard POPP (GER) will be going to his second Olympics in Tokyo. He qualified for the Games after reaching the semifinal at the 2019 World Championships. He lost to Riza KAYAALP (TUR). He later suffered a loss to Iakob KAJAIA (GEO) in the bronze medal bout. It was his third fifth-place finish at the Worlds. In Rio, he reached the semifinals but ran into Kayaalp and suffered a defeat. In the bronze medal bout, he lost to Sabah SHARIATI (AZE).
