Lost in third round to champion Aisuluu TYNYBEKOVA (KGZ), but fought way through repechage to take bronze with technical fall over Jong-Sim RIM (PRK)...2nd to Tynybekova at 2019 Asian Championships, but avenged those losses at 2020 Asian Championships, beating her 6-1 in first round before winning gold with 5-1 win in final over Ayaulym KASSYMOVA (KAZ)...2-time national champion...In 2018, won silver at senior worlds and gold at world U-23...Younger sister of Rio 2016 champion and fellow Tokyo Olympian Risako KAWAI (57kg)...Started wrestling after tagging along with sister to kids wrestling club coached by mother, a two-time national champion.
