After spending a considerable amount of time at 92kg, Suleyman KARADENIZ (TUR) decided to move up to 97kg in 2019 in a bid to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. He did so by finishing in the top two at the European Qualifiers. On his way to the final, he defeated Rio medalist Albert SARITOV (ROU). At 92kg, he became the European champion in 2020. But at 97kg, he won a silver at the same event. He also has a bronze medal at the 2020 Individual World Cup.
