About Anastasija

Anastasija GRIGORJEVA (LAT) will become a three-time Olympian when she competes for Latvia in Tokyo. She lost in the quarterfinals at both the London and Rio Games. In London, she lost to Soronzonboldyn BATTSETSEG (MGL) and in Rio, she lost to eventual champion Risako KAWAI (JPN). In the repechage, Monika MICHALIK (POL) defeated her to end her tour. A wrestler from Daugavplis, Latvia, she has two bronze medals at the World Championships, first coming in 2014 and the other in 2017. She took silver in the Individual World Cup in Belgrade in 2020. She's also a three-time European champion in 2010, 2013, and 2016, as well as a two-time silver medalist in 2012 and 2017. Before taking up wrestling, she trained in judo but later switched sports. She was named Sportswoman of the Year in Latvia two years in a row, in 2013 and 2014. She is married to Imants Lagoudakis.
