Turan BAYRAMOV (AZE) got a lucky break to debut at the Tokyo Olympics after senior wrestler and original entry Khadzhimurad Gadzhiyev (AZE) had to withdraw after suffering a knee injury. Bayramov was announced as the replacement. The junior wrestler is a U23 world champion and junior European champion. His success at the age-group level transformed at the senior level as well as he won the silver medal at the European Championships at 70kg. But at the Olympics he will be wrestling at 74kg. Gadzhiyev qualified his country for the Games after winning a silver medal at the European Qualifiers in Budapest. Bayramov is a Youth Olympic champion as well.
