A regular at 97kg, Elias KUOSMANEN (FIN) wrestled at 130kg at the World Qualifiers in Sofia and managed to finish in the top two and qualify Finland for the Tokyo Olympics. He defeated Mykola KUCHMII (UKR) in the all-important semifinal to clinch the berth. He has two bronze medals at the European Championships. He also won silver medals at the U23 World and European Championships. He participated in the 2019 Worlds at 97kg but lost to Artur ALEKSANYAN (ARM) in the Round of 32 before Cenk ILDEM (TUR) defeated him in the repechage.
