Born in Tsqaltubo, Georgia, Iakob KAJAIA (GEO) will be travelling for his second Olympic Games, having competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics. A former U23 Euro champion, Kajaia qualified for the Games after winning a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships. He had lost to Riza KAYAALP (TUR) in the quarterfinal before beating Eduard POPP (GER) in the bronze medal bout. In Rio, he lost to Sergey SEMENOV (RUS) in the quarterfinal to exit the tournament. Kajaia is a European Games champion in 2019 and has two silver medals at European Championships in 2019 and 2021 apart from one bronze.
