The Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler was born in Sumqayit. Competing at the 2019 World Championships, he lost in the Round of 16 to exit the tournament. But at the European Qualifiers, he won the gold medal to qualify for his first Olympic Games. He defeated two Rio Olympians – Daniel ALEKSANDROV (BUL) and Zakarias BERG (SWE) to reach the semi-final. Against Ramon BETSCHART (SUI) he scored a comfortable 6-1 win to qualify. He won a silver medal at the European Games in 2019 in Minsk. The same year, he earned a silver medal at the European Championships, a competition he has also won a bronze medal.
