Rafig HUSEYNOV (AZE), the Azerbaijan veteran, will be making his Olympic debut in Tokyo after he qualified for the Games by finishing in the top two at the World Qualifiers in Sofia. In the semifinal, he defeated former world champion Viktor NEMES (SRB) to claim the spot for Azerbaijan. At the 2019 World Championships, he competed in 82kg and won a silver medal. He is also a two-time European champion – 2011 and 2020. He was coached by his father Radik and is employed by the Azerbaijan army.
