The winner of five Ranking Series event gold medals, Punia will be seeded No.2 for the Games after he finished a point below world champion and top seed Gadzhimurad RASHIDOV (RUS) . Known for his continuous high-pressure wrestling, the Indian has enjoyed success at all levels including winning gold medals at Asian and Invitational tournaments and Asian and Commonwealth Games. He is married to Sangeeta Phogat, a former Asian championship bronze medalist.
