After missing out to qualify from the 2019 World Championships and 2021 European Qualifiers, Alla Belinska (UKR) managed to earn a ticket to Tokyo from World Qualifiers in Sofia. She defeated María ACOSTA (VEN) in the semifinals to win the spot. Incidentally, it was Acosta who defeated Belinska in 2016 World Olympic Qualifiers to win the spot for her country. At the Worlds, she lost to Aline ROTTER-FOCKEN (GER) in the quarterfinals. She will enter Tokyo as the European champion as she won the gold medal in Warsaw, Poland.
