About Agnieszka Jadwiga

The first women's wrestler from Poland to win an Olympic medal, Agnieszka WIESZCZEK (POL) will be taking another trip to the Games. The Tokyo Olympics will be third after Beijing in 2008 and Rio in 2016. In 2008, she reached the semifinal of the 72kg weight class but lost to Stanka ZLATEV (BUL). In the bronze medal bout, she defeated Maider UNDA (ESP). But in Rio, she was eliminated in the first round by Buse TOSUN (TUR). The four-time European Championships bronze medalist was not scheduled to participate in the Tokyo Games but after Sweden gave up their quota, Poland was awarded one for 68kg. Jenny FRANSSON (SWE) won the quota for Sweden but later tested positive for doping out-of-competition. But Sweden decided to give up the spot. Wieszczek is employed by the Poland Military.
