PARIS (August 20) – United World Wrestling, the international federation for the sport of wrestling has partnered with Broadcast Solutions, GmbH to implement that company’s “Video Assist System” at the 2017 Wrestling World Championships in Paris.

The review system will implement four-camera technology to provide a multi-angle review for each of the tournament’s four mats. The system was promised by United World Wrestling president Nenad LALOVIC in 2016 to help provide referees, fans and coaches a definitive, multi-angle view of all challengeable calls.

“We are ensuring our athletes that we are doing everything to make the correct call,” said Lalovic. “There are more than 800 matches at the World Championships and this new system gives referee’s, coaches and athletes the confidence that the correct call will always be enforced.”

The additional cameras will also be streamed live to fans. The feed will be the first-ever implementation of multi-camera technology during the qualification rounds of wrestling at the world championships. All individual mat feeds will also be available on the United World Wrestling site.

United World Wrestling will also use the 2017 world championships to unveil “Scramble Cam,” a follow-the-action, commentary feed which switches viewers among the most exciting and compelling matches. Scramble Cam will be available during the qualification rounds, but will transition to a pre-finals studio show prior to the night’s finals. The show will provide a recap of the morning’s action and preview the night’s finals matchup before heading into a TV-quality stream.

The 2017 Wrestling World Championships begin Monday at 10am local/4am ET with finals each day at 7pm local/1pm ET.
