The Indian 57kg wrestler is a two-time Asian champion, having qualified for the Tokyo Olympics with a bronze-medal winning performance at the 2019 World Championships in Nursultan, Kazakhstan. It was his first senior World Championships in which he defeated Arsen HARUTUNYAN (ARM) in the round-of-16 and 2017 world champion Yuki TAKAHASHI (JPN) in the quarterfinals before dropping the semifinal against eventual champion Zaur UGUEV (RUS). The former junior and U23 world silver medalist, who hails from the wrestling powerhouse state of Haryana in India, will be seeded No.4 at the Tokyo Olympics.
