About Thomas Patrick

27-year-old Gilman earned silver at the ’17 World Championships, which was his world debut at the senior level. He also competed at the '18 World Championships, where he finished fifth. Gilman won the 57 kg title at the ’20 Pan American Olympic Qualifier, defeating U23 World champion Reineri ANDREU ORTEGA (CUB) in the semifinals to qualify the USA for Tokyo. To earn the U.S. berth for the Olympics, Gilman defeated 2019 Junior World silver medalist Vitali ARUJAU (USA) in the U.S. Olympic Trials. Additionally, he has Ranking Series gold medals from ’18 Yasar Dogu and ’20 Matteo Pellicone as well bronze medals from the ’19 Ivan Yariguin and ’18 Pan American Championships. His last international tournament was the ’21 Grand Prix de France Henri Deglane, where he earned a bronze medal. He trains under 2004 Olympic champion Cael SANDERSON (USA). Gilman and his wife, Melissa, got married in ’20.
