About Yasemin

The first female world champion from Turkey, Yasemin ADAR (TUR) went through the grinding process of qualifying from the World Qualifiers after missing the chance at the 2019 World Championships and the European Qualifiers. Born in Balikesir, Turkey, Adar defeated Martina KUENZ (AUT) in the semifinal of World Qualifiers in Sofia to earn the ticket to Tokyo. This will be her second Olympics after she competed at the Rio Games but lost to Ekaterina BUKINA (RUS) in the 1/8 finals. A four-time European champion, Adar lost to ZHOU Qian (CHN) in the Round of 16 to exit the tournament. She was initially a shot-put athlete before switching sports. She works as a teacher. She received a marriage proposal after winning the world title in Paris and is now married to Erdem Yigit, a wrestling coach.
