About Anshu

Anshu MALIK, a former cadet world champion, will make her Olympics debut in Tokyo. The Haryana-born wrestler qualified the weight class for India at the Asian Olympic Qualifier in 2021 by finishing with a silver medal in Almaty. Despite still being a junior, Anshu has made a name for herself in the 57kg weight class by winning two Asian championship medals, including a gold and a Ranking Series silver medal. In her 16 appearances at the international tournaments at all levels, she has always competed for a medal, missing out on a podium finish only on three occasions. At the 2020 Asian Championships, she dropped her semifinal against Risako KAWAI (JPN) 0-10 before winning a bronze medal. In her short career, she has racked up wins against world champion Linda MORAIS (CAN), European and U23 world champion Grace BULLEN (NOR), Veronika CHUMIKOVA (RUS) and Evelina NIKOLOVA (BUL).
