Otoguro moved up from 70kg, won 2019 national title at 74kg to earn spot against Mao OKUI (5th at 2019 worlds) in Olympic playoff, which he won 5-2...Often overshadowed by world champion younger brother Takuto, who will join him at Tokyo 2020 at 65kg....In 2018, lost in 1st round at 70kg in only appearance at World Championships...Currently member of Japan Self-Defense Forces' Physical Training School team....Won 3 national titles at 3 different weights from 2015-19...At Asian Championships, 5th in 2016, 8th in 2018 and 9th in 2021...2-time world cadet bronze medalist (2011, 2012)...Started wrestling at age 4 under influence of father, a former wrestler.
