About Tamas

Tamas LORINCZ (HUN), the Hungarian veteran of Greco-Roman wrestling, will be taking his fourth trip to the Olympics. He won a silver medal at the London Olympics in 2012. He finished sixth in Beijing and 16th in Rio. Out of his four world medals, the only gold came in the 2019 edition which qualified him for the Tokyo Games. He won silver in Paris 2017 and Budapest 2018 and a bronze from Tashkent 2014. He is also a three-time European champion. In Rio, he lost to Hansu RYU (KOR) in the first round to exit the tournament. Eight years earlier in Beijing, he lost to eventual champion Steeve GUENOT (FRA) in the 1/8 finals. In the repechage round, Alain MILIAN (CUB) handed him a defeat. In the 2012 final, Hyeon-woo KIM (KOR) scored an easy win over Lorincz. He will enter the Games as the European champion as he won the gold in 2021 in Warsaw, Poland. He is also the top seed in his weight class.
