About Jones Simao Antonio

Jones Simão António Mabungu, an Angolan athlete born on 31, January 2004 is a Freestyle and Greco-roman wrestler. He began his sporting career in 2017 at the age of 13 at the Desportivo do golf 2 club, he signed a training and sports career management contract with the Trovoada Team club at the end of 2020. Coached by Francisco Kadima, becoming provincial champion and national champion in U20 in the 82kg Greco-roman and 79kg Freestyle categories, being called up as part of the 2022 national team participating in the African championship held in el Jadida Kingdom of Morocco in the under 82kg category , ranked 4th in Greco-Roman and 3rd in Freestyle at 79kg, being the first Angolan athlete of all time to win a medal in the U20 category in the same year, he was part of the team that participated in the U23 world championship in Pontevedra, kingdom of Spain and dont competing for contracting an injury in the Warm-up which caused him to be evacuated to hospital immediately the following year, 2023, the same still in the U20 category and participated in the national championship, crowned champion and called up for the African championship, ranked 3rd in the Freestyle at 92kg. In the same year he was invited to be part of the Angolan mixed martial arts MMA team, winning his gold medal and becoming African MMA champion.
