Grappling World Championships Return to Nur-Sultan

CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY, Switzerland (July 25) -- The 2019 Grappling World Championships will return Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, September 22-23, 2019. 

The two-day event includes grappling and grappling gi competition in both men's and women's divisions.

Over 20 nations competed in the 2018 Grappling World Championships, with Russia capturing team titles in three of the four senior divisions. Russia claimed top honors in men's grappling and grappling gi, as well as women's grappling. Poland won the team title in the women's grappling gi competition. 

Eight men's weight categories will be contested in grappling and grappling gi competitions. Those weight classes are 62kg, 66kg, 71kg, 77kg, 84kg, 92kg, 100kg and +100kg. There are five women's weight categories: 53kg, 58kg, 64kg, 71kg and +71kg.
