NATALIA VOROBEVA will lead the Russian WW team at the Tokyo Games, given she is the most successful woman wrestler from the country. The 30-year-old won a gold medal at the London Games after beating five-time World Champion Stanka ZLATEVA of Bulgaria and followed it with a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Games. She lost to Sara DOSHO of Japan 2-2 in the final of the 69kg weight class. Born in Tulun, Irkutsk oblast, Russian SFSR just before the Soviet Union disintegration, Vorobeva is a two-time world champion (2015 and 2019) and four-time medalist, having won the silver and bronze in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
