About Alex Gergo

Alex SZOKE (HUN), the 22-year-old Hungarian youngster, managed to win the quota to Tokyo Olympics after winning the World Qualifiers in Sofia, Bulgaria. After Hungary veteran Balazs KISS (HUN) failed to qualify at the 2019 Worlds, Szoke was given a chance at the European Qualifiers where he lost to Kiril MILOV (BUL). But in Sofia, he scored 24 points while giving up only one to qualify. He defeated Nikoloz KAKHELASHVILI (ITA) in the all-important semifinal. At the 2020 Individual World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia, he won the silver medal, losing to Musa EVLOEV (RUS) in the final. Szoke has won the Cadet World Championships while winning the European Championships at both the cadet and junior levels.
