A returning bronze medalist from the Rio Games, SERGEI SEMENOV was born in Tula, Russia. The 130kg wrestler qualified his country for the Tokyo Games by winning the gold medal at the European Olympic Qualifiers in Budapest. The 130kg wrestler finished 17th at the 2019 World Championships after losing to Amir GHASEMI of Iran in the 1/16 finals. A two-time junior world champion, Semenov won the gold medal at the senior Worlds in 2017 and 2018 for Russia. Winning the Russian Championships in 2021, confirmed his spot on the team for Tokyo. He will be the youngest wrestler on the Greco-Roman team of the Russian Federation.
