A three-time world champion, Geno PETRIASHVILI (GEO) will be returning to the Olympic Games as the bronze medalist from 2016. Having taken his wrestling to newer heights since that performance, Petriashivili goes into the Tokyo edition of the Games as the world champion and the top seed. In Rio, he had lost to Komeil GHASEMI of Iran in the quarterfinal in a nail-biting bout that ended 4-4. He then returned to beat Tervel DLAGNEV of USA 10-0 and win the bronze. Petriashvili, hailing from Gori village in Georgia, has been one of the most dynamic heavyweight wrestlers in recent times. He got married earlier in 2021.
