Unbeaten at the international stage since his loss to Elias KUOSMANEN of Finland in 1/16 finals, Evloev is going to Tokyo as a two-time world champion. He won the gold in 2018 and 2019 besides a silver medal in 2017. He also won the 2020 Individual World Cup gold. A brimming rivalry against defending Olympic champion Artur ALENSANYAN of Armenia has seen the two compete against each other four times with Evloev leading 3-1 in the head-to-head record. The Armenian's only win came at the 2017 World Championships in Paris.
