It took some time for Zaurbek SIDAKOV (RUS) to firm his place at the international stage but once he did that, he has won two world titles and earned the spot on the Russian team for the Olympics. He won the gold medal in 2018 and 2019 Worlds, beating Avtandil KENTCHADZE (GEO) and Frank CHAMIZO (ITA) in the final respectively. He had to overcome Jordan BURROUGHS (USA) both times to reach the final. He will also be making his Olympics debut in Tokyo after he won the Russian Championships after beating Razambek ZHAMALOV in the final 3-2. Sidakov hails from North Ossetia and has been training in Vladikavkaz since making his senior debut. The Russian will be seeded third at the 74kg weight category behind Chamizo and Daniyar KAISANOV (KAZ) . Sidakov was born in Zigi village in North Ossetia.
