A historic feat was achieved in Nursultan at the World Championships in September 2019. Stefan REICHMUTH won a bronze medal in 86kg, and as a result, he became the first Swiss freestyle wrestler ever to win a medal at the World Championships. He also qualified for the Tokyo Olympics with that bronze-medal finish. Reichmuth is a cycle mechanic in Switzerland. Reichmuth had a dream run at the World Championships as he reached the semi-final against Deepak PUNIA of India. After losing that bout, he came back with a solid 6-0 win over Carlos IZQUIERDO (COL) to win the bronze medal.
