Parviz NASIBOV (UKR) stunned Rio Olympic bronze medalist Rasul CHUNAYEV (AZE) in the quarterfinals of the World Qualifiers in Sofia, emerging as a 3-2 winner. He later defeated Shogo TAKAHASHI (JPN) in the semifinal to book himself a ticket to Tokyo. The youngster has been impressive at the age-group level winning eight medals at the World and European Championships. He has always finished at the podium at the cadet level while he captured the junior Euro title in 2017.
