A former junior world champion, Karen ASLANYAN (ARM) participated in the 2019 World Championships but lost in the quarterfinals to Mohamed EL-SAYED (EGY) to exit the tournament. After giving the European Qualifiers a skip, he participated in the World Qualifiers and won the gold medal, also booking his ticket to Tokyo. He defeated Mamadassa SYLLA (FRA) in the semifinal to confirm his spot. He has three bronze medals at the Senior European Championships.
