BIOGRAPHY
Dake is a two-time defending World champion at 79kg, winning titles at the ’18 World Championships in Budapest and ’19 World Championships in Nur-Sultan. In his ’18 appearance, his World debut, Dake won gold without surrendering a single point to the field, including a 2-0 win over ’16 Olympic bronze medalist Jabrail HASANOV (AZE). Since April ’18, Dake has claimed eight straight gold medals in international competition, including Ranking Series golds at ’18 Yasar Dogu, ’20 Matteo Pellicone, and most recently, ’21 Pan American Championships with three technical superiority wins. To earn the U.S. berth to Tokyo at 74 kg, Dake defeated 2012 Olympic champion and four-time World champion Jordan BURROUGHS (USA) in the U.S. Olympic Trials. He enters the Olympics ranked No. 7 in the world. 30-year-old Dake and his wife, Megan, have two daughters, EllaJo and Emilia.
