ASTANA, Kazakhstan (October 23) -- Nenad LALOVIC was re-elected as the President of United World Wrestling another six-year term at the Ordinary Congress held on Thursday in Astana on the sidelines of the World Championships.
Lalovic will serve as UWW President till 2032. He was elected after no other candidate contested the elections for the post. UWW still proceeded with an election and Lalovic received 140 votes in favor out of 140 votes casted.
Lalovic thanked all the National Federations and his colleagues in the UWW Bureau for their support and pledged to work together to govern with UWW's focus remaining on wrestling and wrestlers.
"If we keep the athlete at the center, protect our values, embrace innovation with purpose, and bring fans closer to the mat, then wrestling's best days can still lie ahead."
Lalovic emphasized on keeping UWW in line with the new six-year strategy 2026-2032.
"We need stronger grassroots development, more opportunities for women, better digital engagement, sustainable events, and commercial partnerships that create lasting value," Lalovic said. "The question is not what the future of wrestling will look like. The real question is, what future do we want to build? Are we brave enough to build it?"
