Live wrestling from the 2026 Asian Games being held in Aichi-Nagoya with first day hosting Greco-Roman and Women's Wrestling.
AICHI-NAGOYA, Japan (September 30) -- The 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya will see wrestling from September 30 to October 3. Greco-Roman 67kg, 87kg, 130kg and Women's Wrestling 68kg will be in action on day one.
13:00: Rafael TSITSUASHVILI (UZB) makes it to the final at 130kg after an 8-0 win over Aslan AGADADAYEV (TKM). But for the gold medal will have to beat the defending champion Amin MIRZAZADEH (IRI) who manage to scrape a 1-1 criteria win over Lingzhe MENG (CHN).
12:45: Ami ISHII (JPN) pins Jia LONG (CHN) in the 68kg semifinal to assert her dominance and advance to the final. She will face Sol Gum PAK (PRK) in the final and try to begin the dominance of Japan in Women's Wrestling. Pak defeated Meerim ZHUMANAZAROVA (KGZ), by 1-1 criteria.
12:30: Taizo YOSHIDA (JPN) enters the final at 87kg after a 11-0 win over Sunil KUMAR (IND). Yoshida with multiple pushouts and a four-point throw to win. He will face Asian champion Asan ZHANYSHOV (KGZ) for the gold medal after the he defeated Shamil OZHAEV (KAZ), 6-1. That means Gholamreza FAROKHI (IRI) will return home without a medal
12:15: World champion Aytjan KHALMAKHANOV (UZB) pins Asian champion Razzak BEISHEKEEV (KGZ) in the 67kg semifinals. He moves into the final where he will take on Kyotaro SOGABE (JPN) who blanked Meiirzhan SHERMAKHANBET (KAZ), 8-0. Sogabe has a solid support in the stands with all his NSSU teammates
11:55: Taizo YOSHIDA (JPN), Japan's first-ever Greco-Roman U20 world champion, takes 20 seconds to beat Callum ROBERTS (PHI) at 87kg. Two big four-point throws from Yoshida to stun the crowd
11:45: Asian champion at 87kg Asan ZHANYSHOV (KGZ) hangs on for a 4-0 win over Jalgasbay BERDIMURATOV (UZB) after securing both par terre positions. Berdimuratov was docked two points for a leg foul as well
11:25: Returning bronze medalist Sunil KUMAR (IND) with a 9-0 blanking of Muhammad SULTONZODA (TJK) to move into the semifinals and now is a win away from improving his medal from last time at 87kg
11:20: Meiirzhan SHERMAKHANBET (KAZ) downs Hanjae CHUNG (KOR) with takedown takedown and turn to take 4-4 criteria lead. Chung tried to break the criteria but Shermakhanbet, returning silver medalist, wins 5-4 after a lost challenge from Chung at 67kg
11:15: NISHA (IND), who faced Sol Gum PAK (PRK) at the Paris Olympics, faces her again at 68kg. Pak won the Paris bout after Nisha was injured. On Wednesday, Nisha begins with a takedown before Pak takes a 4-2 lead. Nisha manages to score two points but Pak holds the criteria for the win.
11:13: Yuta NARA (JPN) thought he has the win with a final second stepout against Murat BOTOEV (KGZ) at 130kg as he led 2-1. However, Botoev challenged and the action from Nara was considered a push and the point was removed and Botoev wins 1-1 on criteria.
11:10: World champion Ami ISHII (JPN) with a 9-2 win over Zhamila BAKBERGENOVA (KAZ) at 68kg in Women's Wrestling. Ishii gave up two points in a counter but controlled the match throughout to win her opening bout.
11:05: Gholamreza FAROKHI (IRI) and Shamil OZHAEV (KAZ) with a thriller at 87kg. Farokhi and Ozhaev were at 3-3 with the Kazakhstan wrestler leading on criteria. But as he tried a throw, Farokhi committed a leg foul and then lost the challenge and Ozhaev led 6-3. But Farokhi scored a takedown and a stepout to make it 6-6 but Ozhaev keeps the criteria to win
10:55: Hanjae CHUNG (KOR), a world silver medalist, opens his 67kg campaign against Man Gwang SON (PRK) with a 3-3 criteria win. Chung fell behind 3-0 in the first period but managed a turn from par terre in the second take the criteria and then defended his lead to win
10:45: World champion Aytjan KHALMAKHANOV (UZB) begins with a 9-0 win over Ji LENG (CHN) at 67kg. A lot of pressure from Khalmakhanov as Leng cannot defend Khalmakhanov's attacks.
10:30: Welcome to the first day of the wrestling competition at the Asian Games 2026. Greco-Roman and Women's Wrestling will be in action.
